Take a walk in Montreal's upper-crust woods

Without tree-leaf camouflage for protection, the surrounding mansions become part of the scenery on Westmount Summit Woods in the winter.

Bring sturdy footwear because the hilly terrain can get icy.

These photos are from an hour-long walk on Jan. 2, 2024.

We wandered around the woods, walked on the footpath along what used to be a stretch of the Summit Circle roadway, and then took a side trip along tony Surrey Gardens to take in St. Joseph’s Oratory from a unique angle.

There was also a stop at Summit Circle Lookout, also known as the Westmount Lookout.
