Preserving Mount Royal views should not be an afterthought as Montreal prepares to redevelop a huge area near downtown that serves as an entrance to the city.

“The goal is to make (the route) a welcoming, safe and friendly promenade that fits harmoniously into Mount Royal Park,” the city of Montreal says.
Part of the 67-kilometre train network will eventually stretch under Mount Royal via a tunnel that opened in 1918. That part of the system should open in 2024.
